27 Apr 08 - Good bye Apataki - 2 Days Sailing to Tahiti

Sad to leave our new friends - we set sail through the centre of the Atol (uncharted) and waved goodbye to Apataki.  The photo above is of the most inhabited part of the island (!) next to the airport (you can see the windsock between the palm trees).
 
2 days of rough sailing followed.  The sea state and conditions not disimilar to that of the Atlantic for a few hours - I was lucky not to have my life jacket inflate when a very large wave broke high across the cockpit and absolutely drenching me.  Of course I thought it was great!
