Gap in "Daily" Logs!
Sorry about the gap in the "daily" logs. It has been extraordinarily busy with the arrangements before going through the canal, the canal transit itself and the tiresome chase around Panama to locate even the simplest item of yachting gear! Now ordered from the states, for delivery in Ecuador! Panama had a Carnival which effected almost all of the time we were there including two days after the Carnival had officially finished. I also had to chase two courier deliveries and a very large new Parasail being shipped from Hong Kong. The return of the repaired Genoa sail was
delivered at 8.00pm on the evening before departure in the morning at 8.00am! This coupled with an average of 15 business emails a day, and crew who do not want to do daily logs, is my excuse. I am now going to include daily log
writing in crew's daily responsibilities! It was a great relief therefore to leave Panama. We are now in the Pearle Islands off the coast of Columbia only about 40 miles from Panama but will be leaving here later today. Yesterday we were on a deserted Island and had several coconuts cut from the Palm Trees to keep us cool with the delicious coconut milk. Very romantic but nobody to share the romance with!
I have attached a photo of the central lake in the Panama Canal, flooded to make the canal, with only three huge locks up and three locks down with short sections of actual canal at both "ends".
Next log should be a press ganged crew!
