The big news is that we crossed the equator today!
As by tradition we all sacrificed overboard something personally special to Neptune the God of the Sea as we crossed into the Southern ocean. For me it was a mars bar!
The crossing was not accompanied with good weather as it continues to rain from very heavy grey skies. The wind remains light so we are continuing to use our engine. We have used more engine hours on this single short leg than the entire engine hours recorded since leaving Gibraltar! Across the entire Atlantic we only used our engine for 42 mins.!
The grey skies and rain could not dampen our spirits as we are all very excited at crossing into the southern `Hemisphere! I could not possibly tell you what we did and what happened to me just after the attached photo was taken – anybody can read this log!!
Suffice to say that we had a great time and the clothes washing machine and water maker are working overtime!
We have calculated that we can only enter the La Libertad, Ecuador yacht harbour at near high water and we will be arriving just outside the required tide height this evening so we will have to anchor outside the harbour until midday tomorrow. The next log will be our first impressions of Ecuador!
